Travel’s Paradise-Ace vision Treks & Tours

Nepal is known as trekkers’ paradise because combines Himalayan views, golden temples, charming hill, villages and jungle wildlife watching to offer one of the world’s great travel destinations to  Nepal, as well as, trekking the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, often with the help of Gurkhas and Sherpas. It also brings to mind temples and monasteries and languid backpackers relaxing in the old travelers quarters of Kathmandu.

trekkers’ paradise-Ace vision Treks & Tours

Trekkers’ paradise A large number of seasonal streams, mostly originating in Siwaliks, flow across the Terai. Here you can literally climb to one of the nine highest points on earth, or, for a less strenuous alternative, the 15-20 day Annapurna Circuit. Equally exciting, you can try your hand at spotting Bengal tigers and single-horned Asiatic Rhinos in Chitwan National Park. Or you can take a step back in time and explore the many hidden squares and alleyways of Kathmandu, Patan or Bhaktapur, where temples or stupas adorn nearly every corner and the Gods of yore keep watchful eye over their earthly abodes. Listen to the clinking of hammer on steel as a blacksmith tempers his white-hot iron in a trade hardly changed in a thousand years. Get seduced by touristy trinkets or holy men offering you a blessing or photo opportunity in exchange for some coin. You can end of the day with a yak burger or the ubiquitous dal bhat.

trekkers’ paradise-Ace vision Treks & ToursTrekkers’ paradise making Nepal a hodgepodge of Hindu deities and Tibetan Buddhist saints. Monks and sadhus alike walk the streets, and the devout now offer up a prayer to Vishnu now to Shakyamuni also known as Siddhārtha Gautama or Buddha. The backpacker trail is well-worn in Nepal, with Kathmandu being a favorite as far back as the sixties. So if you don’t stray too far from it you will find everything you need.

TAPLEJUNG-Ace vision Nepal

Ace vision Treks & Tours NepalAre you looking remote area of Nepal, Welcome to Himalayan kingdom Nepal? If you want to avoid the crowds of trekkers, trek through Taplejung in the Kanchenjunga region to enjoy remarkable views of towering Himalayan peaks, one of which is the 3rd highest mountain in the world, Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m). Walk through verdant green hilltops, through resplendent rhododendron forests, remote villages and discover cultures that are unique to this region. You will be walking in the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area that covers 2,035 sq. km. including two peaks of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Opt for the sacred Pathibhara trail and get a Darshan of the wish-fulfilling Goddess.Search deep into the valleys to see cultural treasures in the mountain settlements and ancient routes.

This is one of the most beautiful areas in the country in far-eastern Nepal bordering India in the east and the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China in the north. Alpine grasslands, rocky outcrops, dense temperate, sub-tropical forests, and low river valleys make up the area. Nearby is the Tinjure Milke Jaljale ridge that forms a border between Taplejung, Tehrathum and Sankhuwasabha districts. This is an area well known for its bio-diversity including the world’s largest natural rhododendron forests with the highest number of rhododendron species in the world.

Ancient Gompas: The rich cultural heritage of Taplejung is reflected in the Buddhist gompas (monasteries) such as the 400-year old Diki Chhyoling Gompa of Olangchungola which has a life size statue of Avalokiteshwara. A butter lamp at the altar has been burning here uninterrupted since the construction of the gompa. The waters of a small stream outside the gompacontinuously spin twelve prayer wheels with the prayer “Om Mane Padme Hum” inscribed on them.

People: The predominant people in the Kanchenjunga region are the Limbus, with the higher regions inhabited by Sherpas, Rais, Gurungs, Tibetans, Magars, Newars, Sunwars and Tamangs while Chhetris and Brahmins.who are devout Hindus bring cultural diversity to the region. Cardamom farming, agriculture, animal husbandry, and tourism are the major means of livelihood for the people here. The Sherpa people, who arrived from Tibet more than four hundred years ago, live at the highest altitudes. The Sherpas of this region have a culture and tradition quite different from that of the Sherpas who live in the Solukhumbu district in the Sagarmatha region.

Getting There

Kanchenjunga region falls in Taplejung district of Mechi zone.

Taplejung is connected to the rest of Nepal by the 227-km Char Aali-Ilam-Phidim-Taplejung road which meets the East-West Highway at Char Aali.  There is an air link with Kathmandu and Biratnagar from the STOL airstrip at Suketar.  You can also take a bus from Dharan to Dhankuta – Basantapur – Hile and start your trek from there. In the dry season, bus services are available from Birtamod, Jhapa in East Nepal and from Phidim up in the hiils of Panchthar district.  Often an overnight stay is required; otherwise, it is a full day’s journey.

Tourist Services: Tourist facilities are available in Phungling Bazaar and Suketar. Trekkers in this region take camping equipment like tents and food along as lodging facilities are inadequate. Trekkers can make use of lodges, teashops and campsites that are available en route to Kanchenjunga and Pathibhara.

Trekking in eastern Nepal especially the Kanchenjunga treks are rewarding as the culture and landscape is unique to this region and few other trekkers are encountered along the way. These treks are typically two weeks long and established campsites are available for camping, as lodges along these routes are not always open.

Cultural Tours,Ace vision Nepal

explore in Kathmandu-ace vision treks & toursNepal is home for Travelers, Home for Back paper who love Natural. Nepal is a melting pot of many cultures and religions all coexisting in perfect harmony. Take a cultural tour in the Kathmandu Valley to discover the founders of the valley civilization, the Newars who even today occupy central Kathmandu which was the original city. Or take an ox cart village tour in the Tarai region to truly discover how diverse the population of Nepal.

The valley’s pleasant climate and safety from floods and other natural disasters complemented by the fertile soil attracted invaders to conquer and settle here. Various, mighty dynasties ruled Nepal through many centuries and brought together diverse cultures and religions that thrive to this day.

Depending on where you travel within Nepal, you will encounter people of various ethnic groups. The general distribution goes like this: there are Newars in Kathmandu valley mixed with many different ethnic groups that migrated here. In the lower hills live the Brahmins and Chettris along with many others. As you climb higher, you encounter Tamangs who generally live along the hilltops. Futher up in the mountainous region where it snows live the Sherpas who have adapted to the high alttude. The group known as Kirants live in the east also in the hilly and mountainous regions. Ther are many other groups spread around like the Magars and Gurungs. Religions vary from Hindu to Buddhist, to aninmists, to Christians and Muslims. The tribes living in the higher regions are generally Buddhist.

Annapurna-poonhill-trekking-Trek,Ace vision Treks & toursNepal is divided into three layers, according to its geographical settings – Himalayan region, Mid-hills, and Tarai region (flat plains). Himalayan region is the home of the legendary Sherpas, who are renowned for climbing mt. Everest.and many other peaks. One of the first mountaineers to climb Mt. Everest was Tenzing Norgay along with Edmund Hillary from New Zealand. Sherpas follow Tibetan Buddhism, the “ancient school” by religion, they are  friendly in nature and share part of a culture of Tibet. Trek to the northern-most region of Nepal to see the rich mix of culture and lifestyle.

Mid-hills of Nepal are populated by many hill tribes of Nepal like Gurung, Magar, Rai, Limbu, Tamang, Chettris, Brahmins, Newars, etc. Before the unification of modern Nepal, Gurung, Rai,n and Magars had their independent countries, and still have their independent culture; manner of practicing religion, language, cuisine, music and dance, and their architectural settlement is distinctly different.

Newars, being the indigenous people of Kathmandu Valley, are rich in metal works, arts, crafts, and building palaces and temples. Chettries (Khas) and Brahmins are Hindus by religions and historians state they are ancient settlers of Karnali region of Nepal. They have carried their cultural values – with them – wherever they settled.

Tarai is the home of Tharu tribes, and of Madhesi people. They have distinctive cultures and lifestyle, though their social life is influenced by Aryan culture and Hindu religion.  Being a hot province of Nepal, people of Terai region wear light, cotton, clothes, but, they work hard during the day .

The vast majority of the population eke out a subsistence-level existence in small rural communities and as soon as they can walk children start to use a namlo ( head strap ) and doko ( conical wickerwork basket ) to carry loads of firewood or fodder. Although yaks and ponies are used in some parts of Nepal for transporting goods the use of the namro is commonplace. Long trains of professional porters carry gigantic loads from the road heads to markets such as Namche Bazaar, the capital of the Sherpas, high in the heartland of the Solu Khumbu. A standard load is 30 kilograms for both men and women but men can be asked to take double, or even heavier, loads. Cargo carrying helicopters are a recent threat to their business but are unlikely to replace the namro in the foreseeable future.
Many of the caravanserai and lodges used by these porters for their lunch and overnight stops have now been commandeered by independent backpackers for use in so-called “tea-shop” trekking – OK if you are immune to bed and stomach bugs. The two most popular routes, Everest Base Camp ( known as the “yak route” ) and Annapurna Circuit ( known as the “Coca Cola trail” ), can both be undertaken as “tea-shop” treks.
While some consider that carrying their own rucksacks helps them to get fit and acclimatize ( not a view I share ) and others say they do not like to use people as beasts of burden I have found that many backpackers do not know how little it costs to employ a porter and would gladly do so to save sore backs,  Usually the number of porters looking for work exceeds the number of loads available as many have come to rely on trekking for hard cash to buy supplies and equipment for their family farms.
The alternative to “tea-shop” trekking is camping or “organized” trekking where each group is self-sufficient and carries its own food, camping and cooking gear enabling access to remote, uninhabited, wilderness areas such as the spectacular Hongu Valley in the Everest region and the isolated “Hidden Valley” in the Dhaulagiri Himalaya.

acevisionnepal-Trekking in nepalAfter the first few days the routine becomes well established:- bed tea, washing water – kit bag packed, tent down – porters off – breakfast – trekking – rest stop – trekking – lunch stop – trekking – rest stop – trekking – set up camp.
On my first trek I was amazed, and relieved, at the variety and quality of the meals produced by our cook, Dendi, and his kitchen boys from his open, wood fires – a trekking group, like an army, marches on its stomach – indeed it was a British army officer, Colonel Jimmy Roberts, who pioneered and established trekking in Nepal. His training is still in evidence – cooking utensils are cleaned and polished before and after all meals and periodically played out for inspection.

Nar phu valley trek in Nepal

Ace vision Treks & Tours Nepal

Nar phu valley trek lies in the most remote region of the Manang District and access is granted only with the purchase of a special Area. This area consists of two main villages – Nar with 300 permanent residents called Nar-ten and Phu with 200 permanent residents called Phu-ten. These remote villages are situated above tree line and completely cut off during the snowy winter months. Residents of these valleys make their livelihood mainly from herding yak and trading meat, wool and hides with the villages located in the lower regions of Manang.

https://www.acevisionnepal.com/trip/annapurna-base-camp-trek/Nar and Phu Valley Trek, Settled around the 10th Century by Tibetan herders and traders migrating south from Tibet, the inhabitants of Phu once placed high value on their remote and strategic location. Tall stone lookout towers, now standing in ruins, where used to spot possible invaders coming from all directions and thick wooden doors where bolted shut at night locking the residents securely inside. We can have the entire day to explore this fascinating area. We can have the great pleasure of sightseeing inside the Tashi Lakhang Monastery, which sites high above the village. Tashi Lakhang – ‘the blessed house of gods’ is one of the oldest monasteries (or Gompas) in Manang. The Gompa is one of 108 constructed by Lama Urgen Lhundup Gyatso and, along with the monastery in Braga, makes up the heart of spiritual life in the Manang District. It takes two days to reach Naar from Phu Village, the principal and seemingly more prosperous village in these remote valleys. Naar, situated at 13,730 feet, is also called Chuprong meaning ‘the place of Blue Sheep.

https://www.acevisionnepal.com/The original inhabitants of this valley are believed to be from Tibet’s ancient Shang Sung Kingdom arriving sometime in the 8th Century and converted from Bon to Buddhism after the birth of Buddha in Lumbini. Nar Village sits above a large flat plain which make up the extensive agriculture fields being plowed by teams of humans and their yak. It seemed as though the entire village population are in the fields turning the soil and planting seeds in anticipation for the summer rains. As in Phu, wandering around the village and observing local life untainted by the outside world is fascinating.
Highlights of the Trip:

  • Exploring the lost valley of Naar and Phu Village,
  • Visit to the ancient Buddhist Monasteries including
  •  Tashi Lakhang Monastery is listed out of the 108 world’s great Buddhist Monasteries;
